Welcome to Pasture

The world is in the grip of dramatic change as digitisation affects ever more fields of everyday life, with some arguing that the Internet marks as landmark a change for human society as Gutenberg's press did in in the fifteenth century. Changes of such magnitude have the possibililty to engender profound upheaval, confusion, and anxiety, but we have tools to ease such potential burdens. Technological and societal change are central to the progression of human civilisation, and history is the discipline best suited to sharpening our foresight through the tool of hindsight. Often, it is not obvious what has been going on until some time has passed.

Pasture is based in Brighton, UK, and aims to meet regularly to bring together an historian and a technologist in - hopefully - beneficial conversation. Because shining a light on the Past can help to illuminate the Future.
